It's built for railings between roughly 8 and 14 feet long. Shorter railings are fine, you just gather the slack at one end. If yours is longer than 14 feet, two sets side by side covers it.

USB, so it runs off a standard adapter, an outdoor socket or a power bank. Work out where your nearest outlet is before you hang it — that's the one thing people wish they'd planned first.

No. It comes with a remote as well as the app. The app is where the designs and DIY mode live, the remote is for quickly switching or dimming without unlocking your phone.

Yes. DIY mode lets you draw your own design or type a message, so names, countdowns and inside jokes all work. It takes a few minutes to get the hang of, then it's easy.
